TERRY WRIGHT annihilated the field in the Guernsey Velo Club's 10-mile time-trial held on the Cobo course. Wright ripped up the tarmac to record a season's best of 21min. 45sec.

Second-placed Mike Dean was also on good form but it appears that no one can get close to Wright.

Conditions were perfect with little wind, which can make the ride seem slow as no assistance is given in any direction.

Duathlete Alan Rowe, not keen on windy days, found conditions to his liking, recording a lifetime best time.

'I'd had a very easy week,' said Rowe. 'My form seems to have held well this season and it was a perfect day.'

Ann Bowditch was the fastest woman and is looking forward to a well-earned rest in the coming weeks.

'I've tried different training methods this season, which have worked well but also taken their toll on me, both mentally and physically.

'2004 is a long season for me up to the end of October, so am going to take a few easy weeks before cracking back into my schedule,' she said.

Newcomer Jo Hamon had an impressive 10-mile debut and will surely improve over the remainder of the season.
