SIXTEEN members of the Phoenix Artistic Roller Skating Club returned from the Maidstone Open in Gillingham, with the highest-placed club award. The team comprised skaters of all standards, from absolute beginners to international level. It was hoped that the mix would bring medal success and it did.

The event attracted the greatest number of entries in its 11-year history, so medals were always going to be heavily contested.

During the weekend of competition, the local team claimed three trophies, with Nicholas Bianco taking the nine-years beginners' category, Bobby Roland and Chloe Dyke succeeding in the inter-bronze/bronze couples.

'This has finished off what has been a very hectic and successful season for the club and we are now all on a well-deserved break,' said club coach Darren Dyke.
