Andover show sparks county U-14 call-ups

FOUR of Guernsey's under-14 squad have taken the first step on the ladder to playing for Hampshire this season. Jason Batiste, Tom Ceilam, Henry Forsey and Seoirse Lee impressed the county age- group manager Peter Ebbs and coach Jon Brookstein in the Sarnians' 22-7 victory over Andover in the second round of the Hampshire Cup last weekend.

Thanks to their performances, the quartet will be among 60 boys receiving invitations to two festivals in January, which will feature four teams from the county.

After those two weekends, the group will be whittled down to 30 for a final selection session from which the elite squad of 22 is chosen. Hampshire will then play a couple of county matches before a Super 10s festival in April.
