THE penultimate event in the Beau Sejour Barracudas NRG Series saw two of Ian Powell's records broken in the 200m individual medley. Sixteen-year-old Thomas Hollingsworth, a medley specialist, registered the fastest men's time of the day with a lifetime best of 2-10.94, finishing two seconds inside Powell's championship standard.

Matthew Allen, 13, claimed the second of Powell's records in the 12/13 years age group in a time of 2-31.24.

Demonstrating her natural ability in all four strokes, Rachael Le Page won the girls' title in the 14/15 years age group, in addition to recording the fastest women's time of the day, with 2-36.18.

Runner-up Zoe Elliott recorded a personal best of 2-43.24.

Competing at the bottom of the 14/15 years section Jeremy Osborne's gradual return to full time training following a virus infection, saw him improve on his time by a second to take the title in a time 2-20.32, 16 seconds ahead of his nearest rival.

It was a successful day for the Salmon girls with Jenny taking the 16-years-and-over title in a time of 2-41.10 and sister Katie claiming the 12/13 years age group in a time of 2-48.77 - three seconds inside her previous best.

Chris Adkins won the masters' title in the under-40 category with a time of 2-28.45.

Throughout the age groups, a total of 24 personal best times were achieved, the most significant coming from 12-year-old William Bodkin and 14-year-old Anna Le Poidevin, who sliced 14 seconds off their previous bests, recording times of 3-06.29 and 2-58.67 respectively.

The final event in the series, the 400m individual medley, takes place tomorrow, followed by presentations to the overall winners in each age group.
