BARCLAYS MASTERS enjoyed a good couple of evenings in the top flight of the Condor Group League, beating both TCCI and Nerine Trust E. The first match against TCCI was nailbitingly close, with the scores staying level for the first half.

Barclays then pulled ahead only for TCCI to claw back into the game. The final whistle signalled a Barclays win by a solitary goal.

Nerine E were no pushover, either, with the goals flying in at both ends of the court. Barclays edged ahead with every quarter, though, and Nerine were unable to close the gap and went down 41-48.

Top sides MeesPier-sonReads Sarnians One and Nerine Trust A had little trouble collecting another five points apiece, with Sarnians beating their second team and Nerine defeating Nerine Trust C.

Nerine Trust B also overpowered their opponents, Nerine Trust D who fought hard, particularly in defence where young GK Amy Wright worked well with C Donna Brehaut.

The B side, though, always had too many goals in the bank for Nerine D to threaten a win and they had to settle for a consolation point.

Division Two title contenders Guernsey Motor Spares still haven't dropped a game, this time defeating MeesPierson Reads Sarnians Three. Mean-while P&J Conservatories, their closest rivals, dominated their match against Rothschilds, collecting five easy points.

Elsewhere, Ship & Crown beat K&R Flooring and MeesPiersonReads Sarnians Three lost out to Nerine Trust F.

Sarnians looked in trouble from the outset and were 15-0 down after the first quarter, requiring some urgent tactical changes.

By half time Sarn-ians' tally still wasn't looking healthy and Nerine were powering ahead, with GA Lisa Martin and GS Sarah Creed hitting the mark repeatedly.

Sarnians made changes to their attacking line-up which saw them creep back into the game and, to their credit, they got within two goals of a consolation point befire time ran out for them.

In Division Three, Autumn Gold had a surprisingly tough time against newcomers Close Encounters.

Autumn Gold held the advantage throughout the match but Close were never that far behind and kept nipping at the heels of the more experienced team.

The final quarter saw Autumn Gold pull out all the stops, however, easing ahead and winning by eight goals, leaving Close having to make do with a well deserved consolation point.

Heritage Two beat Nerine Trust K and JT Electric had no problems seeing off Nerine Trust H.

PWC again won with just six players, this time against Autumn Gold Two.
