Lowndes seals win with big PB
A NEW record and a two-second personal best was how Guernsey Swimming Club's Ben Lowndes sealed his win in the club's 800m freestyle championships.
A NEW record and a two-second personal best was how Guernsey Swimming Club's Ben Lowndes sealed his win in the club's 800m freestyle championships. Lowndes secured the only new record of the championships, with a time of 8-55.40.
Tom Hamon clocked in 58sec. later to take second place with a four-second personal-best time of 9-53.03.
The girls' title went to Christine Hume who, after a tight race with sister Sarah, edged out to win with a time of 9-47.30 to Sarah's 9-56.84.
Lorna Castle scooped the first place for the girls' 13-and-under category while the two Matthews, Butt and Girard, battled it out for first place in the boys' race.
It was Butt's touch at 10-32.38 to Girard's 10-32.70 that eventually won.
