MOSGROVE'S Yobbos have come out flying for the start of the second half of the season. Having already seen off Tigers, they enter the Christmas break in a strong position, after winning a tight game against fellow championship hopefuls Clubhouse Unwantables.
And with Nic Chambers continuing to put the goals away - collecting a hat-trick in this encounter - added to some new signings, things are looking bright for the white-and-blues.
'We were disappointed to concede three soft goals but I always felt we'd win the game with our attacking prowess,' said Yobbos captain Steve Ward.
'We've got a couple of new signings, which are going to help us, I'm happy with two wins and we're looking to continue this through to the new year.'
Following an even first 10 minutes, Yobbos broke the deadlock when a fine through-ball left Chambers one on one with Adie Peacegood.
The Unwantables captain forced him wide but Chambers still angled the ball into the far corner.
The red-and-blacks came back quickly and within a minute they were level.
Martin Roberts getting around the back of the Yobbos defence, pulled the ball for Rob Newton to fire home from close range
And they entered half-time with the advantage following a goal on his debut by Chris Mauger, who fired home at the far past following more good work down the right wing.
That should have sent Unwantables on their way, but it was Yobbos who came out stronger in the second half.
Wayne Moore could not miss after the ball fell to him in front of an open goal, Unwantables keeper Paul Bullock being left stranded after a fine save from another Chambers shot.
Then the goal-hungry striker's reverse-stick effort from the top of the D found the net to give Yobbos the lead.
Some slick Unwantables interchanges into the D brought the scores level again, this time midfielder Neil Wood supplying the final touch.
But the game was decided in controversy.
Chambers picked the ball up just over halfway and with Unwantables' appeals for a foot unsuccessful, he made the most of the situation.
Bullock made a good save from the in-form striker, but the ball fell kindly and his follow-up shot went in at the near post.
'We gave the ball way too much,' said UHC's captain Peacegood.
'We didn't create very much, but it's difficult because Yobbos sit deep and play on the break and do it very well.'
