Kimber finally steps up
JENNY KIMBER has succeeded Lady Foley as captain of the Royal Guernsey Ladies' Section.
JENNY KIMBER has succeeded Lady Foley as captain of the Royal Guernsey Ladies' Section. And being a L'Ancresse course ranger, too, she would have every reason to be sick of the sight of the links and golf by the end of what promises to be a tiring year.
But the proud new captain believes her day job will help, not hinder her.
'It makes the job of captain of much easier, being here all the time.
Having received the Lady Captain's brooch from Lady Foley, Kimber finally moved into a role she has long waited for.
Unusually, the new captain had spent two years as the vice to enable Lady Foley to take on the captaincy. 'That's what we all wanted,' said the 2005 captain who will have June Wright as her vice.
The new captain, whose Captain's Day will be on Tuesday 28 June, will also have the support of club secretary, Jackie Parnwell, and Carol Wood, the treasurer.
