Conservatories benefit from GMS' walkover
GUERNSEY MOTOR SPARES seem to have given up the ghost in the Division Two title chase.
GUERNSEY MOTOR SPARES seem to have given up the ghost in the Division Two title chase. After handing a walkover to Nerine Trust G they have slipped from second place to fourth in the table and made it more likely than ever that P & J Conservatories will win the championship.
It was also a a good week for K & R Flooring who won for the first time this season against Ship & Crown.
Although K & R trailed for the first part of the match Ship & Crown faltered after the half time break.
Star of the show was GK Catherine Rabey who regularly moved out of the circle to feed effective ball to her team-mates.
K & R eventually won by five.
In Division Three title-chasing Autumn Gold One played a very controlled game against Nerine Trust H and maintained a healthy lead for the duration. Nerine fought hard for their consolation point and were duly rewarded.
Title-chasers JT Electric showed little mercy against Close Encounters, taking a 10-goal lead in the first quarter.
Key players included JT Electric's C Cheryl Tough who displayed skills in both defence and attack.
For Close, Sally Ingrouille showed versatility both in centre court and the circle after moving to GA.
Although Close got a little despondent with the score stretching to 52-12 in favour of JT Electric they must take heart as this is their first season as a newly-formed team.
At the top level, Nerine Trust A's victory over closest rivals MeesPiersonreads Sarnians One put them ever closer to another title, but it was not convincing enough to deny Tracie Hards' side a consolation point.
Other winning Nerine teams were the C side who defeated both their D side and Barclays Masters, while Nerine Trust B had no difficulty against a six-sided TCCI.
Nerine Trust E, however, were not so lucky and fell to MeesPiersonReads Sarnians Two.
Despite leading for more than half the match, Nerine were unable to maintain the advantage when Sarnians piled on the pressure and levelled the score.
The final quarter belonged to Sarnians who stretched clear to win by nine goals.
