Unbeaten opponent for Matt
MATT JENNINGS will be looking to take an opponent's unbeaten record tonight.
MATT JENNINGS will be looking to take an opponent's unbeaten record tonight. The Guernsey star tops the bill in the island's match against North of England Select at St Pierre Park and he will come up against D. Kangulungu, who has a reputation the size of his name.
'Jennings is going to have a testing time,' said Amalgamated Boys' Club coach Graham Guilbert.
'He is up against a French lad, who is boxing out of the Isle of Wight now, and he has had 20 bouts and 20 wins.
'I am told he is a clever boxer, but I think Jennings will have the edge because he has got so much power.'
Guilbert reported that his boxers hadbeen working hard since the Open show at Beau Sejour a fortnight ago, mainly doing speed work to keep them sharp.
The coach has no qualms about going into a dinner boxing event so soon after the last show.
'I would rather it like that because it keeps them active,' he said.
Matt Clark, who won the bout-of-the-night award at Beau Sejour, is another one to look out for this time around according to Guilbert.
'Clark is really up for it. He has got a guy who is quite short and stocky so we might have to change our tactics a bit for that,' said the coach.
'We have got James Woolnough the same opponent this time as he had at Beau Sejour. I thought he had the edge last time. It was a very good bout and could have gone either way.
'North of England are always very strong. It is going to be pretty close right through the card,' Guilbert added.
