ANDY EGGO won't win the prestigious Henderson Cup this year. The defending champion failed to survive the opening round of L'Ancresse qualifying after finding himself disqualified for signing for the wrong score.
Playing partner Danny Bisson gave the plus-one handicap a 78 instead of a 79 at the end of an early morning round in which conditions were tough.
If the cold and strong wind was not bad enough, unreliable, spiked greens added greatly to the challenge.
'I missed a few from two feet.'
One player who did not have any problems, was 11-handicap Andy Langlois, who shot a net 65 to lead by there going into next week's second qualifying round.
Kevin Le Tissier also enjoyed a good day, shooting 68 off his 14 handicap.
Steve Mahy's three-over 73 was the day's lowest gross score and he, too, is well placed to book one of the eight qualifying spots available to his club ahead of the matchplay stages.
