ANDY EGGO has not been disqualified from the Henderson Cup after all. The defending champion was shocked to hear from Guernsey Press sports editor Rob Batiste on Sunday that his tournament was apparently going to end in disappointment after signing for the wrong score.

However, Eggo and playing partner Danny Bisson were absolved of any blame this week when it was concluded that the administrative error in applying the handicap was not their responsibility.

Bisson pointed out: 'As players, myself and Andy only sign for the gross score.

'It is not up to us to apply the handicap, that is the committee's job, so any mistake was on their part. But it was an honest one and has all been sorted out now.'

Eggo admitted that since news of his 'disqualification' was released, it had been playing on his mind and several people had been taking the mickey out of him and Bisson.

'Rob called me on Sunday morning so I re-checked the rules on Sunday afternoon and I spent all of Monday thinking: ?This is wrong?.

'We knew we had not made a mistake,' said Eggo.

Eggo shot a gross 78 on Saturday morning in difficult conditions.
