PAUL BREHAUT made a winning comeback to local racing with victory in yesterday morning's Coudre road race. A good field of 29 turned up in warm and sunny conditions to contest the eight-lap race and it was not too long before Brehaut, a star of the 2003 Island Games, made a break with Rob Smart and Tony Bleasdale for company.

The trio were still together on the final climb of the Coudre where Smart, not known for his sprint finish, made his move and pulled clear.

But Brehaut was quick to react and approaching the finish he seized the initiative, caught Smart unawares and out-sprinted him for a well-deserved victory.
