JAMIE BLONDEL has just shot an amazing fifth hole-in-one in his golf career. Competing for L'Ancresse against St Pierre Park in the Hampshire seven-a-side competition at his home course, Blondel achieved the feat on the third hole.

He used a five iron for the 190-yard par-3 hole and said the shot felt good when he hit it.

'I knew it was in line,' said the 28-year-old travel agent.

'I didn't see it land as it was quite misty and I thought it was long.

'When I walked up to the green I saw a small indent in the grass just before the hole so I looked in it. I was surprised to see the ball at the bottom of it.'

It was Blondel's second ace on that particular hole. He first managed the feat a couple of years back.

After taking up the sport at the age of 12, he got his first hole-in-one at 13 on the 18th at L'Ancresse. He also had one on seventh hole there, and has recorded one in Jersey as well.

Getting five aces is a remarkable feat considering that many golfers go through their whole careers without achieving this most elusive of acts. The odds on sinking a tee-shot are 40,000-1.

'You hit the ball hoping for a hole-in-one, but there is a huge element of luck if it actually does go in,' said Blondel.

It is not believed that any current L'Ancresse golfer can beat Blondel's haul, though Bobby Eggo also has five to his name.

Blondel won his match as his club beat St Pierre Park 6-1.

Next L'Ancresse face the Royal Guernsey in the competition.

Tradition states that when you get a hole-in-one, the drinks are on you. Blondel was happy to oblige.

'I bought a round for everyone in the bar,' said Blondel. 'I didn't mind, besides it wasn't too expensive as there weren't too many people in the bar.'
