Bailey is too fast for rivals

AARON BAILEY again showed he is the man to beat on the time trial scene, finishing more than 30 sec. ahead of Terry Wright. But the ride of the day came from Alan Rowe, the former world duathlon champion, who has spent more time concentrating on his bike skills recently. He recorded a superb fourth place.
'I don't know where that came from,' said Rowe. 'That was my best ever performance in a time trial.'
With most of the Guernsey Velo Club's course disrupted by roadworks, a new one from Perelle to the top of Pleinmont Hill and back was used. The riders were hampered by a headwind on the long climb of L'Eree hill, but treated to a fast descent on the homeward leg.
Ann Bowditch was the quickest woman with a fast-improving Tracey Dowinton second.
The under-16s completed a five-mile time trial, with Nathan Baudains the clear winner from Peter Lee, with Josh Owen third.
