ANN BOWDITCH achieved her top-10 finish objective in yesterday's national 10-mile time-trial championship. The Island Games star finished ninth of 66 starters on a fast course in Chester.
Considering her event ranking was 26th, it was a fine performance by the Guernsey woman.
'I'd like to have been a bit closer to the top riders, but I'm quite happy with the position,' she said.
'I'd caught my minute person by the halfway mark and was just 15sec. down on my two-minute target,' she added.
The national rankings are based on performances over the last 12 months, so to improve on that by 17 placings was commendable.
But, as usual, the fiercely competitive local rider was not entirely happy.
'I think it's going in the right direction, but just not quite as quickly as I would like.'
