A flying Cody slashes five seconds off best

She began by knocking more than 13 seconds off the backstroke mark, in which she also improved on her personal best by a similar margin to record 1min. 24.07sec. Neves then went on to smash the freestyle time by more than 10 seconds to record 1-15.25, again, a personal best by more than five seconds.
In the 10-year age group, Cody Butcher rewrote the record books in both events, setting a new mark in the backstroke of 1-27.89.
She improved on her best by nearly five seconds to finish just ahead of second-placed Lotte Parfit, who recorded 1-28.81, also finishing inside the previous championship record.
In the freestyle, Butcher again improved on the record by some five seconds to record 1-14.99.
Thomas Hollingsworth recorded fastest times of the day in both events with a new record in the backstroke of 1-00.09, while Jeremy Osborne set a new mark in the freestyle event in the 14/15 age group.
In the 11-year age group, David Hall took both titles ahead of Charlie Spano, with Chloe Merrien winning the girls' backstroke and Rosie Grimes the freestyle.
Victoria Parfit surged ahead in both events to take the titles from second-placed Rosie Le Friec - both girls improving on their personal bests by more than three seconds in both swims in the 12/13 age group.
Hannah Lamb just clinched the title from Robyn Le Friec in the backstroke, but the tables were turned in the freestyle with Le Friec touching easily in 1-03.06.
A tussle for first place in the 16-plus category between Lauren Judge and Rachael Le Page saw the latter touch first in 1-12.72 with Judge on 1-12.84. Le Page then went on to win the freestyle in 1-03.79 as she touched out Jenny Salmon in 1-03.95.
The swimmer showing the most improvement in the backstroke was Sam Frank, who cut his personal best by 15.63 seconds, and in the freestyle Sophie Hocart, who improved by an amazing 33.31 seconds.
