MATTHEW ROBERT took John Tomlin's record in the 100m breaststroke in the NRG Series staged by the Beau Sejour Barracudas Swimming Club. Competing in the 16+ age group, Robert touched in 1-10.08, a personal best and two seconds better than Tomlin's championship record.
In the 14/15 age group, Robyn Le Friec smashed Gail Strobridge's 100m butterfly record by three seconds to 1-07.36.
There was no stopping Thomas Hollingsworth, either, as he broke his own record in the 100m butterfly with a time of 57.89, well clear of the opposition.
One of the oldest records of the series, set by Amanda de Jersey in 1989, fell to nine-year-old Kristina Neves, who smashed it by more than eight seconds with a time of 1-40.23, which was a personal best by more than 11 seconds. Also inside the record was second-placed Melanie Ravenscroft in 1-48.40.
Only those in the 12/13-and-over age groups competed in both events, with double winners being Victoria Parfit and Joshua Lewis in the 12/13 category and Jeremy Osborne in the 14/15s.
The swimmer recording the greatest improvement was Shannon Murphy, 10, who improved on her previous best in the 100m breaststroke by 17 seconds.
