WITH so many records totally obliterated in the 200m freestyle event of the NRG Series staged by the Beau Sejour Barracudas Swimming Club, the official recorders found themselves double checking the history books. No fewer than eight out of the 12 races were completed in new record times.

The first to go was in the youngest age group where nine-year-old Miles Munro knocked five seconds off the mark set by Ian Le Pelley back in 1986, clocking 3min. 11.31sec.

Taking the race out hard, he managed to maintain his pace and produce an impressive performance.

Kristina Neves, also in the nine-year age group, swept to victory, improving on her best by over 17 seconds to set a new mark of 2-37.73, the previous record having been set just last year at 3-06.22.

Cody Butcher in the 10-year age group swept Gail Strobridge's record out of the pool.

Smashing the standard by over 22 seconds to clock 2-37.12, Butcher set a new life-time best by over seven seconds.

Moving on to the 11-year age group, it was David Hall who took Thomas Hollingsworth's record in a personal-best time of 2-40.77.

Again in a very mature performance, Hall was able to maintain his pace and produce an impressive display.

The girls' 12/13 years' title went to Victoria Parfit in a new record time of 2-22.28.

Again this was a personal best as she cruised to victory over the eight lengths.

Another of Strobridge's records fell in the 14/15 years age group, this time to Robyn Le Friec, who in fact registered the fastest time of the day of the girls with a very impressive 2-14.14.

In the 14/15 boys, Jeremy Osborne broke Hollingsworth's previous standard with a new time of 2-00.34.

Finally, Jonathon Le Noury looked strong as he took Sean Rowe-Hagan's championship record in the men's 16-plus group, recording 1-56.89 - the fastest time of the day for the men.

The swimmer improving the most in this event was 10-year-old Alice Dewsnip who improved her time by an astonishing 41 seconds.
