Record fourth title on bounce for prolific Andy

ANDY EGGO has won the L'Ancresse club championship for an eighth time in 10 years. Rounds of level-par 70 and two-under 68 gave him the title for a record fourth straight year by a comfortable five strokes from mate Mike Hamon.
Now well established as the club's top performer, Eggo was very satisfied with his day's work after coming into the second round trailing junior Emile Thompson by one.
For once, in a topsy-turvy season on the greens, his putter was warm.
'I played very, very steady and putted very well.
'My putting has started to come back. It's been a problem all year.'
In good conditions, the defending champion dropped just one shot - at the sixth where he hacked into a bush - and collected birdies at the second, eighth and 13th holes.
That Hamon should finish his nearest challenger slightly surprised the winner.
But Jamie had a bad day.'
Indeed, he did.
The senior island team candidate dropped right back with a 78, a score he shared with Thompson who eventually placed fifth behind Eggo, Hamon, Tim Carter and Craig Allen.
The day's other outstanding rounds came from Jack Mitchell and postman Peter Harris who posted 69 and 70 respectively.
Harris, who shared the day's best net score of 64 with Howard Mauger, was probably left regretting ripping up the previous weekend.
Instead, the handicap trophy went to Vale Rec's golf-mad football manager, Chris Hamon who won by one shot from Mike Hamon, Craig Allen, Danny Carre and Emile Thompson, with matching 68s.
