KRISTINA NEVES smashed the nine-year-olds' championship record by more than seven seconds in the 100m individual medley event of the NRG Series staged by the Beau Sejour Barracudas Swimming Club.

Proficient in all four strokes she characteristically set off at a fast pace which she managed to hang on to and in so doing beat Gail Strobridge's record set in 1994 with a time of 1-25.95.

Victoria Parfit, another good stroke technician, set a new record in the 12-13 years age group with an excellent time of 1-14.81, a personal best.

The next record to fall went to Jeremy Osborne in the 14-15 years age group where he recorded 1-02.76 to break his own record that he set in this age group last year.

Another to break his own record was Thomas Hollingsworth, who was the fastest man of the day with a time of 1-01.36.

Rachael Le Page was the fastest of the women in 1-11.32, while the swimmer making the greatest improvement was 10-year-old Alice Dewsnip, who improved by 11.14 seconds to record her lifetime best.
