BOMBAY and Anguilla are on the exotic list of destinations that the Guernsey development squad could tour in the near future. Under-19 manager Dave Nussbaumer has already organised a ground-breaking trip to South Africa in October, taking in four matches, and is making plans to visit India next, followed by the Caribbean.

'We really want to push on as we go into the ICC,' said Nussbaumer, who revealed the plans after the defeat in the under-21 inter-insular.

Guernsey went into the under-21 game with predominantly under-19 players and it showed.

Jersey skittled the visitors out for 138 at Grainville, but lost five wickets on the way to victory.

'The average age gap was about three years, which is a lot at this age-group, but I thought our boys did well, gave 100% commitment and can be reasonably happy with their performance,' Nussbaumer said.

'We lost the toss and, like them, we wanted to bowl. They got by far the better conditions for batting later on.

'We went in with a pinch-hitter, Andy Orme, opening with James Warr and put on 22 in the first two overs and got Jersey rattled. But then Orme got out to a full toss, Blane Queripel slipped going for a second run and was run out and Chris van Vliet was bowled.

'From 22 for nought off two, we were 23 for three from three and it was then a damage limitation exercise.'

Captain Warr and Jamie Nussbaumer shared in a decent fourth-wicket partnership and a cameo from Ben Ferbrache late on got Guernsey up to a decent score.
