Cobo in the dock after incidents

TOTAL COBO are in the dock after their ill-tempered Channel Islands Champion-ship semi-final clash with Clubhouse Optimists. It is understood that as many as eight players from the two teams could be cited and hit with disciplinary punishments following the match that saw Cobo beat their big rivals by seven runs at the King George V Field.
Swearing and dissent towards, the umpires Martin Gray and Dave Collen, marred the match.
Veteran Cobo bowler Mark Culverwell was also involved in a clash with Optimists batsman Jamie Chambers, which could lead to a charge of a level four offence - the most serious on the GCA's code of conduct.
Level fours are given for the threat of assault on an umpire or referee, physical assault of another player and any act of violence during play.
A player found guilty of a level four offence faces the penalty of a three-month suspension, while the club could lose points or be expelled from the competition.
It is believed that the GCA may consider the charges at a meeting on Monday.
Logistically, it is not possible for the GCA committee to meet to decide on the issue and have the possible appeal process before Saturday's final, so the punishment will be carried over to next season.
The GCA has so far refused to name the players that are accused of the offences until after next Monday's meeting. But it is understood they include Cobo's Robbie Moore and TJ Ozanne and Optimists' Steve Queripel.
Their offences - level two - carry 14-day suspensions.
The GCA's weekend league representative, Dave Piesing, is keen to crack down on the unsportsmanlike element that has crept into the local game over the last couple of years.
'It clearly was an unsavoury match and the umpires duly reported a number of incidents,' he said.
'The reports from the umpires will be given our full support.
'There probably have been several incidents of a similar nature over the summer that some players will now realise that they have got away with.
'In future that sort of behaviour will not be tolerated.'
