YOUNG local cricketers will benefit from some top quality coaching on Monday. Mark Robinson, the Sussex coach, will be sharing his knowledge with a group of youngsters before making the draw for the Barclays corporate six-a-side competition, which is once again part of the Lord's Taverners' annual weekend cricket fundraiser.

The former first-class player, who will take up the newly created role of professional cricket manager at the county from next month, is in his testimonial year.

'Mark's cricket and coaching skills are well known throughout the counties and we are delighted that he will be able to provide some coaching to some of our budding youngsters,' said Lord's Taverner and event organiser Mike O'Hara.

'Mark is well known for his attention to youth coaching and we hope his visit will strengthen the coaching contacts that already exist in the island.'

The six-a-side tournament, once again being held at Port Soif, will take place on Thursday 29 September.

Two days later, Robinson's county will defend their title in the Barclays Twenty20+ challenge against Gloucestershire.
