Winning Ashes team was picked in a flash

A NARROW win in the Ashes earned a cricket fan a trip for two to watch England play Pakistan in one of next summer's one-day internationals. Neil Davey is the winner of the Goldridge Estate Agents 2005 Fantasy Ashes game, with a total score of 8,204 and a winning margin of just 58 points.

'It's good because it's the first thing I've ever won,' said the IT administrator.

'I picked the team in five minutes after coming back from travelling in Australia.'

The key to the 23-year-old's success, which saw him beat 128 others, was selecting Warne and Flintoff as all-rounders and Simon Jones, Glenn McGrath and Steve Harmison as bowlers.

The competition raised more than £500 for the Friends of Guernsey Cricket Charitable Trust.
