THE opening games in the PWC Indoor Cricket Leagues have produced plenty of drama. Played at the Elizabeth College sports hall, league one saw the Hurricanes post a useful 126 all out against the Sharks despite not using all their overs.

Jonathan Clark hit 50 and was ably supported by Oliver Lepp with 13 and Rory Moriaty with 12.

Sharks' top bowler was Max Ellis with two wickets. Keeper Mitchell Le Tissier took two stumpings and a catch.

In reply, all six of the Sharks' wickets fell to run-outs and they ended up 34 runs.

Matthew Renouf top-scored with a well constructed 23.

Next up the Pumas seemed to be coasting to victory with their total of 113 for five, with Adam Hindle and Ben McVey as their main batsmen.

Spitfires had other ideas, though, and despite being 82 for five after 13 overs, they managed to scramble to victory off the last ball thanks to some controlled hitting by Charlie Wilkes-Green.

In league two, Dane Mullen helped the Panthers reach 117 for three off their 15 overs against the Bears.

Kane de Carteret, despite not taking any wickets, made life difficult for the Panthers' batsmen with his pace and bounce.

Bears in reply lost wickets regularly as they found themselves on 79 with one wicket left and things looked done and dusted, although Adam Clark had other ideas.

He batted beautifully but was sensationally caught by Mullen on 37 after taking the score to six runs of the target.

The Hornets beat the Tigers by just one wicket thanks to some brave batting by William Jackson at the death.

Needing just a wicket to win the game, Tigers' Matthew Breban sent down four consecutive balls that just missed the stumps but Jackson was up to the task, finishing on 15 not out to see his side home.

Tigers had posted 107 with Oliver Tapp making 34.
