CROWD favourite Matt Jennings was again left without an opponent as a new dinner boxing season opened at the St Pierre Park Hotel. The home team beat a Manchester Select squad 7-3, the victorious boxers including debutants Matt Sawbridge and Shane Le patourel.
A third first-timer, all-round sportsman Blane Queripel, was stopped in the second round.
The home team were particularly well served by the Alderney contingent.
Dave Chadney, Joel Mitten, Louis Jean and Adam Rose all won, the latter on the top of the bill. Rose's bout won the prize for the fight of the night, while local heavyweight, Steve Mourant won the best Guernsey boxer prize despite losing.
The other home team success came from young Gage Demore-Baker who won a split verdict.
