SCHOOLBOY boxer James Woolnough is through to the semi-finals of the 54-kilos section of the national Junior ABA Golden Belts Championships after an impressive victory in Liverpool. 'He boxed really, really well,' said Woolnough's coach Graham Guilbert following his second-round stoppage win over S. Hassan.

'He now meets a lad called Sweeney in the semis in Milton Keynes this weekend,' added the boy's coach.

Another Guilbert protege, Bradley Watson, has been given a bye all the way through to the final in his category.

Meanwhile, heavyweight Matt Jennings has again been denied a chance to open his own season.

He had been due to box for the Western Counties in Aldershot on Monday night but, frustratingly, the bout fell through.
