COMMONWEALTH GAMES swimmer Thomas Hollingsworth was among the seven record-breakers as the first events of the 2006 NRG Series staged by the Beau Sejour Barracudas Swimming Club got under way with the 50m sprint events. Hollingsworth looked sharp as he set new championship records in both the 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly in times of 27.85 and 27.37 respectively.

He also recorded the fastest time overall in the 50m breaststroke with fellow team member Jonathon Le Noury recording the fastest of the day - a 50m freestyle in 25.65.

Ten-year-old Kristina Neves broke all four records in her age group, recording 33.16 in the 50m freestyle, 45.35 in the breaststroke and 38.40 in the backstroke. Her time of 36.00 in the 50m butterfly swept away Gail Strobridge's record by over two seconds.

Another of the latter's records went to Robyn Le Friec in the 50m butterfly where she recorded 31.18 in the 16 years and over group.

Le Friec also recorded the fastest time of the day in the 50m freestyle leaving the overall titles and fastest of the day in breaststroke and backstroke to Rachael Le Page.

Victoria Parfit set a new mark in the 50m backstroke as well as winning the other three events in the 12-13 section.

Indeed, the Parfit family excelled with sister Lotte also winning all four events in the 11-year age group; and younger brother Harry, 9, competing in his first NRG Series, also winning all four events.

Also successful over the four events was Joshua Lewis who continues to improve over all strokes and nine-year-old Chloe Tostevin who was competing in her first championship moving up from the pre-squad group as a fully-fledged Barracuda.
