POLICE yesterday reconstructed events surrounding the suspected murder of Elaine Le Sauvage. Her body was found in a field gateway in La Rue de la Corbinerie, St Martin's, at about 8am on Friday 6 January.

The 49-year-old was last seen alive at 2pm the previous day, when she left work at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, and was reported missing that evening.

Her son, Wayne Le Sauvage, 31, has been charged with her murder.

Last night officers recreated the events - based on CCTV footage from the hospital grounds - which they believe took place in the road between 6.20pm and 6.50pm on Thursday 5 January.

Detective Constable Phil Sage, the officer in charge of the case, said:

'We want as many witnesses as possible to come forward so that we can build up as full a picture as possible.'

On the CCTV footage, officers can see a red and silver Mitsubishi Pinin car, similar to the victim's, come from Ville au Roi towards the hospital and pass the Oberlands entrance.

Shortly afterwards, other road users have to stop and move round an object - which officers believe to be that vehicle - in the gateway to the field.

Then, at around 6.50pm, a red Subaru Justy which officers are associating with the defendant, is driven from Atlantis in Rue Cauchez, St Martin's, towards the hospital entrance.

Again, officers believe that it, too, stopped in the gateway to the field before moving off towards Ville au Roi.

DC Sage said that from the CCTV, officers could see that there were some joggers, a cyclist and drivers of numerous vehicles which had to brake and indicate to go around the vehicles who have still not come forward.

He added that officers carried out a similar reconstruction two weeks ago, stopping people and questioning them as they passed.

This latest event was specifically to try to jog people's memories and to encourage anyone who had any knowledge of events at that time to come forward.

n An inquest into the death of Mrs Le Sauvage was to be held at 2pm today.

At the same sitting there will also be an inquest into the death of 26-year-old Craig McGrath.

He was found dead at Port Grat on 26 February.
