GUERNSEY'S under-12 netballers turned in their best-ever performance to return home as the only squad to secure a victory against Jersey in the inter- insular tournament. Assistant coach Joan Ozanne described it as the best under-12 match she had seen and praised their efforts.

The Jersey side had never lost in this age group before but Guernsey's technical ability shone through.

With quick centre passing from Leigh-Ann Forman and width provided by Steph Batiste Guernsey soon went ahead.

They were only a couple of goals to the good in the final quarter but dynamic running from goal attacker Lisa Clemens and some good finishing from Abby Milton as goal shooter pushed Guernsey further ahead.

Fine interceptions by Maisie Phillips in goal defence and some excellent tipping from goal keeper Charlotte Hill ensured the Sarnians' victory.

Coaches Kate Larkin and Donna Murney left the team unchanged and although exhausted, the girls kept their heads and ran out 24-17 winners.
