Guernsey ease their worries
GUERNSEY saved their best away performance of the season for their penultimate Powergen London Three South-West league game of the campaign.
GUERNSEY saved their best away performance of the season for their penultimate Powergen London Three South-West league game of the campaign. The green-and-whites' nailbiting 20-19 victory at Farnham saw them leapfrog their hosts to the third from bottom spot and out of the relegation zone.
First half tries from Paul Thomas, Barry Goude and Jim Regnard helped set up their 20-12 lead at half-time.
But it was backs-against-the-wall stuff for the visitors in the second, as Farnham took full advantage of the strong wind behind them.
A penalty try due to a collapsed maul on Guernsey's line took them to just one point behind. The Sarnians managed to hold out until the end.
Their last match is against Camberley at home on Saturday 22 April.
'It was our best performance away from home this season,' said captain Andy Bailey.
'In the first half we played all the rugby and we made it tight in the second half.
'It's good to get some momentum and every one should be fit for the Camberley game.'
