A BIG ton from Stuart Le Prevost helped guide Total Cobo to a 102-run victory over PKF Wanderers in Saturday's Carey Olsen GCA Championship match at the KGV. The Cobo captain joined Jeremy Frith at the wicket with his team on 13 for two, with Matt Oliver and Jamie Nussbaumer both going cheaply.
Le Prevost went onto carry his bat for 133 runs after being dropped on 28 while Frith departed with 64 to his name.
The two island stars put on a partnership of 161 as they set a testing total of 235 for four.
The result is the second victory of the season for the team that has been tipped by many to clear up all the trophies this year.
They had lost to Optimists in the Dave Fisher Memorial Trophy and in the Barclays Evening League Division One.
'It was alright,' said Le Prevost. 'I was striking the ball pretty well. We were in some trouble and the ball was moving around early doors.
'But batting with Frithy I knew that if we saw the shine off the ball, the wicket was good and the outfield has quickened up, we'd be alright.'
In response, Wanderers who were light of two of their main run-getters, Richard Veillard and Pierre Moody, never really got going as wickets fell at a regular tempo. Opener James Warr top-scored with 36 before he was caught at short extra cover by Le Prevost off Frith's left arm spin.
Wanderers were bowled out for 133 in the 33rd over.
'To be honest, Wanderers were missing a couple of players and we were confident of winning once we had posted 235,' said Le Prevost.
'We took full advantage of their missing players. We kept chipping away and we took wickets regularly.'
