Big pat on the back for Pat

PAT JEFFREYS had been threatening a remarkable round of golf for some time. The 28-handicap finally produced it in the Royal Guernsey Ladies' Section's latest LGYU medal and did so to stunning effect.

A net 58 brought the Guernsey Press receptionist victory by a remarkable 11 shots from Elaine Ward, the silver division winner.

Jeffreys' round included five gross pars and earned her not only the top prize but a seven-shot handicap reduction.

Jan Chamberlain's 80 was the lowest gross score.
