TOP SEED Danny Bisson felt the full force of a three-times former island champion and bowed out of the Deutsche Bank Island Championships at the last 16 stage last evening. Nigel Le Noury beat Bisson 3 and 2 and set up a quarter-final clash with the man behind the major shock of the evening, Mike Hamon, who finished two up on David Rowlinson.

Le Noury started strongly and was two under par as he moved three up after six holes.

By the 11th Bisson was all-square again but then lost three in a row.

Bisson's last chance of escaping came and went at the 15th where he hit a superb iron to within 10ft of the pin but missed the putt and halved the hole in fours.

The third round also proved the end of the road for the last remaining juniors, Sean Mills and Danny Carre.

Mills could not repeat the form that accounted for Julian Woodhard 24 hours earlier and was duly thumped 6 and 5 by Nigel Vaudin, who will now play Mick Marley, a 3 and 2 winner over John Le Lievre.

Young Carre, 15, fared better and should be proud to have taken the champion, Bobby Eggo, as far as the 16th where his wayward drive hit the press reporter's car and was never seen again. Carre, dormy three, shook hands at that point.
