'Surreal' days for CI champ Stenner

DI STENNER yesterday reflected on a 'surreal' past week in which she had not only won the Lindsay trophy as island champion for the bronze division, but also landed the Channel Islands equivalent.

DI STENNER yesterday reflected on a 'surreal' past week in which she had not only won the Lindsay trophy as island champion for the bronze division, but also landed the Channel Islands equivalent. In Sunday's CI showdown at L'Ancresse, Stenner saw off the challenge of fellow 21-handicap, Lily Morgan, the daughter of Royal Jersey Golf Club professional, David.

'She was ever such a lovely player,' said Stenner, 'and long off the tee.

'But she was making a few more errors which obviously was an advantage to me.'

From one up at lunch, Stenner moved three ahead early in the afternoon, but was then pegged back to all-square before forging decisively clear on the back nine the second time around.

Stenner said she played the match under no pressure after her unexpected success the previous week.

'It was surreal really.
