AS HUMILIATING defeats go, C & W Rovers' loss at the hands of DHS St Pierre at KGV on Friday evening must be high up on the list of Evening League Division One embarrassments. Fielding just 10 men, Rovers posted a meagre 78 and then were hammered to all parts of the ground by Justin Meades and Vince Kenny as St Pierre raced to 81 in just 5.4 overs.

Poor Richard Hamilton suffered most, his first over leaking 11, the second 20 and the third 19 as Aussie Meades cleared the ropes four times in scoring 38 from just 12 balls faced.

It did not get much better for Rovers the following afternoon, as Total Cobo inflicted an eight-wicket defeat upon them in the Carey Olsen Championship on a tricky wicket at Port Soif.

Rovers could rustle up just 145 against Cobo's youthful attack, but then dropped a series of easy catches as the visitors eased to maximum points with the help of Robbie Moore's undefeated 59.

Meanwhile, at KGV, Meades was again in fine form, crashing 74 from 68 balls this time in a losing cause for Mavericks against PKF Wanderers.
