THERE was an excellent turnout for the 100m breaststroke and butterfly events of the NRG Series staged by the Beau Sejour Barracudas Swimming Club despite it clashing with the Island Schools' Sports. The first record to fall was in the 10-years group where Kristina Neves clocked 1-35.28 to knock four seconds off the record despite just being outside her personal-best time.

Thomas Hollingsworth registered a lifetime best of 1-09.62 to take the record in the 16-years-and-over age group.

He also placed first in the 100m butterfly in 59.23.

Nine, 10 and 11-year-olds competed in the breaststroke only as they had completed their butterfly event of the series earlier in the year.

Chloe Tostevin took the title for the nine-year-olds from Rebecca Stewart in second place.

The boys' title in the same age group went to Harry Parfit who romped home on the second 50m to take the gold from Freddy Moss.

Toby Belton won the 10-year-old boys title.

The Parfit family had a good championship with 11-year-old Lotte winning the breaststroke and Victoria, 13, winning both the breaststroke and butterfly events in her age group.

Joshua Lewis won both events in the 12/13 age group recording a personal best in the butterfly in 1-14.96.

Gemma Nicolle also scored maximum points in both events in the 14/15-year age group taking the breast in 1-28.94 and the fly in 1-15.33.

Matthew Allen in the same age group recorded a life time best in the breaststroke of 1-17.40, also winning the butterfly in 1-09.64.

The 16-plus age group for the girls was split between Jenny Salmon who won the breaststroke in 1-23.33 and Robyn Le Friec who placed first in the butterfly in 1-08.33.

There were some huge improvements in times, with Isobel Chamberlain improving on her 100m butterfly by 26.64 seconds.
