DAVE HEARSE should be a happy man. Three of his island stars showed just why they are Guernsey regulars as Total Cobo edged closer to retaining the Barclays Evening League title with a win over C&W Rovers at the KGV last night.

Tim Duke did not deserve to be on the losing side because his 88 was outstanding, but a superb unbeaten stand of 133 between Stuart Le Prevost and Gary Rich spoiled his day.

All seemed set for Cobo's second defeat of the season when, chasing 136 in 20 overs, the impressive Stuart Bisson dismissed TJ Ozanne and Matt Oliver in successive balls in the opening over of the reply to leave the champions four for two.

But, given excellent support by Rich, Le Prevost continued his awesome form from the weekend with a magnificent captain's knock of 84 not out made from 57 balls including 10 fours and two sixes to ease his side's nerves and make a hard-fought win seem comfortable.

His third-wicket partner ended undefeated on 44 with three fours and a maximum.

Earlier, Duke had put on a wonderful display during which he struck eight fours and a six over long on from his 67 deliveries faced.

The other good news for Hearse was that the pick of the Cobo bowlers was Kris Moherndl, another of the squad selected for Scotland, who deserved more than the one wicket he claimed.
