TIM RAVENSCROFT made a fine century in a losing cause as Guernsey under-15s opened their tour of England and Scotland. Eight of the Sarnian squad, including Raven-scroft, are still in the under-14 age group and they put up an excellent fight against older opposition when they faced North-umberland under-16s in Ashington.

In a 40-over game, Guernsey batted first and made 210 for six, with Adam Hindle contributing 41 alongside Ravenscroft's hundred.

In reply, the hosts needed two runs off the last ball in a thrilling finish to get home with four wickets in hand.

The Sarnians now drive to Scotland for three fixtures against Scottish age-group sides.
