A GUERNSEY bank employee has obtained the joint highest score in a nationwide financial services exam. Lyndsey Snell, who works for HSBC, said she was delighted with her result for the diploma in financial studies.
'I was surprised and really pleased,' she said.
'I took the certificate before the diploma, which helped, but it was a lot harder than I at first thought.'
Part of the final exam, which was taken through the College of Further Education, required Miss Snell to independently research and write about ethical banking.
She paid tribute to the standard of teaching by Hugo Towers, who has since retired from the CFE.
'I don't think I would have got the mark I did if it was not for the way he teaches,' she said.
President of the Guernsey Institute of Financial Services Alan Bougourd also commended the high standard of teaching.
'We're really proud of Lindsey's achievement for her personally and it also demonstrates how effective the CFE is in obtaining such high academic achievements.
'We would be very keen for Lindsey to continue her studies as she shows great potential.'
Miss Snell said she was planning a break from study before deciding on the next course.
She also received a letter of congratulations, a cheque for £125 and a certificate.
