TOM LE HURAY birdied three of the last six holes to come from behind and win his first Junior Golf Club championship just short of his 16th birthday. Le Huray had been two shots off the pace after the first round, with club captain Emile Thompson leading the way on a one-over-par 71 and Sean Mills lying second on 72.
The final six holes of the second round ultimately decided it.
Thompson had birdie chances at the 13th, 14th and 18th which all slipped by and a bogey five at the 16th meant he finished six-over on 146.
His playing partner, Mills, birdied the 14th to raise his own hopes and solid pars to finish left him also on 146.
But Le Huray, who was playing just behind the lead pair, rattled off birdies at 13, 14 and 16 and could even afford a bogey at 15 to pip them with a 145.
All three championship front-runners have been named in the Guernsey team for the junior inter-insular at L'Ancresse on the final weekend of the month.
Thompson captains a team which has two new caps in Jamie Le Page and Daniel O'Brien.
