DANNY BISSON and Wally Emmett are the winners of this year's Le Riche and Tradesmen's cups respectively. The 36-hole inter-club event, played at L'Ancresse, was hosted by the Royal Guernsey GC and sponsored by Le Riche.

The cups are presented for the best combined scratch and handicapped scores of the day.

The Le Riche Cup, dating back to 1923, was won by Bisson, playing off plus two, who shot a three-under-par 67 in the morning and 72 in the afternoon to claim the trophy.

Mick Marley was second with scores of 69 and 74. Just behind in third was the ever-present Bobby Eggo with a combined score of 144.

Royal Guernsey stalwart Emmett did it his way in winning the handicap event.

The well-known crooner put in two impressive cards to take the Tradesmen's, a cup that has been sponsored by local businesses for 103 years.

He started the day well, making good use of his 14 allotted shots as he finished the morning one under.

Whatever Emmett had for lunch must have gone down a treat - he waltzed out in the afternoon and shot a cracking net 66 to give him a five-under-par total of 135.

Laurence Graham Jnr came second scoring, incredibly, identical rounds.

Playing off five, he shot the second-best score with a net 68 in both morning and afternoon sessions.

In third place was Geoff Riou.

Fourth and winner of nearest the 18th pin was Geoff King. His effort stopped just 3ft 3in. from the flag.
