MOTHER-and-son team Jill and Craig Shorto are the winners of this year's JLF Trophy. The somewhat unusual mixed-greensomes format, golf's version of mixed doubles scored with Stableford points, must have suited the Shortos as they collected 42 in the Jacksons Garage-sponsored event hosted by the Royal Guernsey at L'Ancresse.
The pair had a combined 16 strokes to play with and used them very effectively, scoring 21 points on the front and back nines.
In second place were husband-and-wife duo Niall and Carol Counihan: they had only a combined nine strokes to play with, but still scored a very respectable 39 points.
Nudged out in third, on countback, were club golf manager Bobby Eggo and Lady Captain June Wright with the same points and strokes as the Counihans.
The nearest-the-pin prize was collected by Janet Sherwell and Stephen Robertshaw. Their effort stopped just inches short of the stick on the 18th.
