PETER SARGENT was the winner of this year's Alec Rose Bowl. In the Royal Guernsey GC event sponsored by Teleskill and JVC, Sargent shot a net 66 over the L'Ancresse links to take the honours.

Using his eight shots well, his tally was only one over gross on the front nine, including two birdies and four pars, which kept him in good stead as he struggled with three bogeys and a double bogey on the back.

The double bogey was counteracted by a superb eagle on the par-five 14th.

Just missing out in second was Laurence Graham.

The three handicapper shot a net 67.

He used two of his shots on the front nine, but came back with a very strong 33, shooting seven pars and two birdies.

Scott Ingrouille came third with a net 68.

Mr dependable Bobby Eggo registered 13 pars and four birdies to rack up a great score to win the scratch prize with a three-under-par 67 gross.

Teenage sensation, 15-year-old Craig Shorto, playing off seven, won the junior prize with a 73 gross.

He dropped three shots on the front nine and returned in par.

Nearest the pin was claimed by Adam Tardner.

His ball stopped just over six feet from the flag on the 18th.
