GUERNSEY'S elite young cricketers have returned unbeaten from a highly successful six-match tour of Belgium and Holland. Manager Dave Nussbaumer took his Investec development squad on the trip after the cancellation of the ECC Under-17 Division Two Championship in Israel, strengthening that Sarnian age group with the addition of James Warr, Jamie Nussbaumer and Ben Ferbrache.

They won all four of their matches against top Dutch club development sides, all of whom included their South African professional player-coaches.

Unfortunately, neither of the games in Belgium could be completed due to rain with Guernsey in a strong winning position when both were abandoned.

Jon Warr and Luke Nussbaumer had an outstanding tour.

The Pessimists and Elizabeth College all-rounder scored 265 runs at an average of over 88 and claimed nine wickets for 50 in 24 overs.

The Cobo leg-spinner was the leading wicket-taker with 14 for 135 from 42.3 overs, including a best of five for 32. He also hit an unbeaten 50.

However, all the bowlers shone, with James Warr and Jamie Nussbaumer taking wickets as well as Chris Dravers (four for 114 off 35), Jack Byrne (five for 61 off 25.2) and Adam Robin (six for 83 off 28).

Apart from a 56 from James Warr and a 34 from Jamie Nuss-baumer, none of the batsmen really got going, although players such as Peter Le Hegarat, Tom Straw-bridge, Tom Kimber and Ferbrache all chipped in with useful contributions.

All matches were played on either artificial or matting wickets on which line and length proved to be essential.
