Nine take on a 10

WITH a large contingent of riders competing at the Duo Normand in France, it was left to nine hardy souls to brave the elements for the last of the Guernsey Velo Club's 10-mile time trials of the season. With Aaron Bailey having already wrapped up the distance championship and Allan Renyard the standards competition, there was little to ride for as the conditions were not going to favour fast times. However, the nine were rewarded with very quick return legs. This was particularly noticeable with the younger riders because with restricted gears, their legs were really spinning.
Chris Le Page continued his return to form with a win in 25min. 17sec., followed by Tim Holmes just 11sec. slower.
Ann Bowditch took third spot and the only veteran, Tim Martin, came in fourth just ahead of the leading youngster, James McLaughlin.
