A DELIGHTED Andy Bailey emphasised that there was 'a lot more to come' from his inexperienced side after they notched their first win of the season. The Guernsey captain described the team performance as exceptional. 'We have a lot of new players so it is going to take time to gel, but we clicked today,' said Bailey.
'We should have scored a few more tries, to be honest, but it was a full-on team display and people are starting to settle into it. That shows in the chances we are creating.'
The sides were locked at 3-3 at half-time but Guernsey made the pressure tell after the turnaround.
They scored their first try through prop Jack Webber after the Sarnians had won a scrum against the head.
The second score came when Ben Le Huray delivered a clever offload to Laurence Hill-Tout who broke away through the middle before passing to his captain and he went in under the posts.
Carl Gardner added both conversions as well as two penalties.
'Last week the set piece failed us in the second half but today it was exceptional,' Bailey said.
'The Camberley pack is awesome - big and experienced - and yet we dominated the scrum.
'Laurence at hooker had an outstanding game. When things start to go wrong in set pieces, people often look at the hooker but all credit to him, he got everything spot on.'
A win away from home was the perfect tonic ahead of Guernsey's first league encounter at Foote's Lane against Winchester on Saturday, according to Bailey.
'The most important thing is that we know we have still got a lot to work on,' the captain said.
'But we are full of confidence now going into the first home game and we want to show our supporters an open and fast game of rugby.
'I maintain that when we are getting our set pieces together properly, this team is capable of challenging at the top of this league.'
Guernsey sit in seventh place in the 12-team table, two points adrift of Dorking, Chobham and Totton ians, who have all won twice.
