GARY PEDDIE was the special guest as the Guernsey Sports Commission held its annual golf day yesterday at L'Ancresse. As well as being a professional at several clubs throughout his career before becoming general manager and director of golf at Bramley GC in 2002, Peddie is an experienced after-dinner speaker and is renowned for his impression of legend Seve Ballesteros.

'I fell into the Seve impression by accident while on holiday in Spain,' he said.

'I was asked to do a turn and my attempted mimicking impressed a number of people.

'I was invited to speak at the club's men's dinner and found to my delight that my very limited routine went down exceptionally well.'

It was the third year the event has been staged by the commission as a thank you to all major sponsors and supporters of sport in the island.
