LE VAUQUIEDOR Farm will be auctioned at the end of the year after the States failed to find a suitable buyer. The property is situated in the grounds of the Princess Elizabeth Hospital and was bought by the States in 1934. It was renovated in the early 1970s and used by the Housing Department until 1996.

A number of options were considered for the property, including using it as a childcare facility, before it was decided the farm would be sold privately as part of the States property rationalisation process.

'When advertised, a great deal of interest was expressed in Le Vauquiedor Farm. However, the offers received by the deadline set did not appear to reflect the potential of this site. The Treasury and Resources Department reserved the right not to accept any of the bids made, none of which were accepted,' said Treasury minister Lyndon Trott.

The department felt that holding an auction would be the best way to maximise the value of the property.

'We, the Treasury and Resources Department, are charged with managing the portfolio of the States of Guernsey in the best possible way. This means that where we are disposing of properties incompatible with the needs of the States, we must attempt to achieve the best possible price on the market.'
